Steely Resolve, Futuristic: Naveen Jindal in Action

Naveen Jindal took over the reins of the Raigarh operations of Jindal Strips Limited (JSL) in 1993, when the company was a moderately-performing enterprise. Soon, this great visionary was able to transform the company into one of the top performing companies in the world.

Under his stewardship, JSP has significantly enhanced its liquid and finished steelmaking capacities to over 10 MTPA and 8 MTPA respectively. Moreover, the company has also been able to create power generating capacities of over 5050 MW, which has helped in spreading light even in the remotest part of the nation.

The Visionary

Considered a significant business leader in India today, Mr Naveen Jindal entered the steel industry with a clear vision in his mind. This vision helped him expand his business and make a global impact. Today, JSP has manufacturing and operational facilities not only in Raigarh, but also in Angul – Odisha, Patratu – Jharkhand and in key global geographies including a 2 MTPA integrated steel plant in Oman, as well as coal mining operations set up across Australia, Mozambique and South Africa.

Highlights

JSP, through its subsidiary Jindal Power Limited, has successfully created India’s first private sector power plant of 1000 MW.
After expansion, JPL forms the largest power generation complex of UMPP in Chhattisgarh with a generating capacity of 3600 MW.
JSP is amongst the select league of 7 global steelmakers with the capability to manufacture Head Hardened Rails.
JSP has commissioned India's largest blast furnace at its Angul plant in Odisha.
The integrated steel plant at Angul is envisaged to be the country’s first steel plant to be based on purely swadeshi raw materials.
The plant will also house the world’s largest 1.5 MTPA Bar Mill and India’s most advanced Plate Mill.
Mr Naveen Jindal has also established India’s largest 9 MTPA Pelletization Complex at Barbil, Odisha.
The global manufacturing foray of JSP, undertaken in Oman, boasts a setting of 2 MTPA integrated steel plant at Sohar. The steel pant comprises a 1.5 MTPA Bar Mill, the largest in the world.
