A former Member of Parliament, Mr Naveen Jindal has represented Kurukshetra twice, for 10 years in the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha. He has also been a part of several parliamentary committees and initiatives that have changed many lives.

Over the years, his untiring efforts towards the country and its people, especially towards causes such as – women’s empowerment, education, healthcare and youth empowerment, have made a huge impact, not only in a particular constituency, but across the nation.

A Dynamic Leader

During his tenure, Mr Jindal worked relentlessly to eradicate hunger from the country. He moved a private member resolution, ‘The comprehensive food and nutrition security scheme’ in Lok Sabha, in 2006, which finally took shape as the National Food Security Act.

Highlights

  • Secured rights for Members of Parliament to wear National Flag badges in the august House
  • Secured smoking ban in the Parliament, which was implemented from July 2004
  • Got the cess of US$200 per MT, abolished on the export of basmati rice
  • Recommended multiple jail reforms to improve the living condition of inmates
  • In 2005, he got the Government of India to issue orders to allow Indian currency to be accepted at duty-free shops in the country.
  • During his tenure, Naveen Jindal not only transformed Kurukshetra into a modern city, but also enhanced healthcare system, education facilities and other infrastructure of the constituency.
